2016 Election

Welcome to Professor Rapoport’s class on the 2016 election.  This Washington, DC based program will give you an opportunity to learn about the upcoming election in the most relevant city in the union.  The class will revolve around our Friday speakers.

The speakers we bring in all have real-world political experience, and are among the top experts in their respective fields.  This site will help you prep for each speaker before they come to class.  Be sure to inform yourself both on the speaker him/herself, as well as the field they are in.  By doing so, you’ll be able to ask more intelligent, probing questions, and less time will be spent on a basic overview of what they do.

One student in particular will be assigned to each speaker.  It will be that student’s job to be the most prepared for their arrival.  When you are assigned to a speaker, go beyond the basic blog post on the speaker to find out what you can about their background.  You will also be responsible for greeting them in the lobby of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and presenting them to the class.  Finally, you will also write the speaker a thank you note on behalf of the class.  This is an exceptional opportunity for each of you to rub elbows with some of the top figures in the American political scene.  Please direct any questions about the speaker process or the website to John Begala: jpbegala@wm.edu.
